Titans/NFL Combine: Houston Tackle Patrick Paul Believes He's 'Best Pass Protector' in Draft

If the Tennessee Titans want the best pass protector in the 2024 NFL Draft class, Houston's Patrick Paul is making his case. The 6-foot-7, 315-pound lineman is projected as a second- or third-round pick, potentially giving the Titans more flexibility with their first-round selection.

INDIANAPOLIS — If the Tennessee Titans are wanting to select the best pass protector in the 2024 NFL Draft, Houston offensive tackle Patrick Paul wasn't bashful about what he can bring to a team.

"I'd say the most polished part of my game is my protection," Paul said during Saturday's media availability at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. "I come from an air-raid offense, so that's what I'm accustomed to. I feel like I win quite consistently."

Tennessee surrendered 64 sacks last season, the fourth-highest total in the NFL. General manager Ran Carthon and coach Brian Callahan talked about adding talent along the offensive line, hopefully giving quarterback Will Levis more time to throw.

Pro Football Focus ranks Paul as the No. 83 overall prospect in the class. He could be a second- or third-round pick, potentially giving the Titans more flexibility with their first-round selection.

The Titans have already shown some level of interest in Paul's skill set. The Houston product confirmed he had a formal meeting with Tennessee this week, calling the conversation "great."

Paul would bring a 6-foot-7, 315-pound frame to Nashville. He might be more of a work-in-progress than Notre Dame's Joe Alt and Penn State's Olu Fashanu, but he's dedicated to becoming the best player at the position. Plus, the Titans have on their coaching staff one of the NFL's foremost teachers of offensive line play: Bill Callahan.

"What makes me the best? I'd say my dedication to the craft. I'm always pursuing to get better at the game," Paul said. "I'm always diving deeper into my craft. I feel like I'm a great pass protector — the best pass protector in this draft."
