NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans announced their agreement to contract terms with 2023 first-round selection Peter Skoronski and defensive lineman Jaleel Johnson.

The information came in a press release by the team on Tuesday afternoon.

"Skoronski, who was selected with the 11th overall pick, started 33 games in three seasons at Northwestern. He finished his career as the 2022 Rimington-Pace Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, becoming the first Wildcat player to accomplish the feat. Additionally, the 6-foot-4-inch, 313-pound left tackle was a unanimous first-team All-American as a senior and was named to the 2022 All-Big Ten first team by the coaches and media. He also finished as a finalist for the 2022 Outland Trophy, recognizing the nation’s best college interior lineman on both offense and defense. As a junior in 2021, Skoronski earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches. The Park Ridge, Ill., native became the first Northwestern offensive lineman to earn two All-Big Ten first-team awards during a career."

As for Johnson, his addition was reported in an AllTitans article by Tyler Rowland earlier on Tuesday.

"Johnson (6-3, 316) is a veteran of six NFL seasons with Minnesota (2017-20), Houston (2021-22) and Atlanta (2022). Over his 74-game NFL career, he has logged 21 starts, 125 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. In 2020, Johnson started all 16 games for the Vikings and totaled 44 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three tackles for loss. Last year, he split the season between Atlanta (six games) and Houston (three games). Johnson entered the NFL as a fourth-round selection by the Vikings in the 2017 NFL Draft from the University of Iowa, where he earned first-team All-Big 10 honors as a senior. During his Hawkeye career, he tallied 112 tackles and 13 sacks in 47 games."

The signing of Skoronski, along with previous agreements with Tyjae Spears, Josh Whyle, Jaelyn Duncan, and Colton Dowell, leaves second-round selection quarterback Will Levis as the only remaining unsigned draft pick.

The Titans really need help on the offensive line. It was a real problem during the seven-game losing streak to end the season, and the reason why everyone thinks the Titans are in for a long season. According to the Fanduel gambling website. Fanduel has set their over/under wins totals for the season, and they have Tennessee at just 7.5. Remember, we're into the new 17-game NFL schedule now.

Improved offensive line play might help the Titans surpass that win total, but there's a lot to monitor during preseason workouts to see how that unit comes together.
