NASHVILLE - Though he didn't speak to the media following Tuesday's mandatory minicamp practice, Tennessee Titans star safety Kevin Byard was on the field and made his presence known throughout the session with his play on the field.

Absent during the most recent organized team activities, Byard was arguably the biggest storyline for this team entering Tuesday's work. Now if that could only be put to rest permanently, but unfortunately, until Byard speaks to the media, this will continue to be an issue of sorts.

According to team media relations officials, Byard might speak later in the week, as the team will conduct two more sessions on Wednesday and Thursday that will be open to the media.

However, head coach Mike Vrabel wasn't so lucky enough to avoid the question of his veteran defensive leader.

"He looked like everybody else. He looked like he knew what he was supposed to be doing like he was in good shape, so it's good to have everybody out there," said Vrabel, the first question he received. "He's ready to perform and able to be out there."

While Vrabel shared little detail, it was clear from a sideline interaction during the session that the coach was happy to have his player at practice.

As for his defensive teammates, the return of Byard seemed to bring an increased level of energy to their side of the football.

"I really didn't notice it at all; no, I'm joking," laughed Azeez Al-Shaair following the practice. "No, it's really good, like a breath of fresh air. Obviously, he's a guy with a ton of experience, and he's been in the league longer than a lot of players. He's the longest-tenured player, and it's really good to have him in the building."

"I got to meet him at a function he had earlier, like a month and a half ago, when I first got here,"  continued Al-Shaiir. " It was good to talk to him again and see him in the building again, and I'm just happy to see him out here."

Byard and his defensive teammates will take the field again on Wednesday, with the media on hand, and hopefully, Byard will share his thoughts and put this issue to rest once and for all.
