NASHVILLE - Through the two days of minicamp and OTAs where the media has been allowed to view the Tennessee Titans practices, the reviews of rookie quarterback Will Levis have been solid.

However, one of the biggest knocks against the former Kentucky standout has been obvious during those two sessions. Levis sometimes struggles with his touch on shorter throws.

The analogy I'd use to describe Levis is, if he were a baseball pitcher, his fastball would be his strikeout pitch, but his changeup is very hittable.

Watching the ball come off his hand when Levis loads up that fastball, it has a tight spin and quickly gets where it's going. When he tries to throw with touch and layer the ball into his receivers, you can see it wobble as it heads toward the target.

It's clear that there is work to be done to fix this issue totally, but even with those less-than-desirable throws, Levis has still managed to get the ball into a place where the receivers could make plays, and he has taken care not to put the football in harm's way.

Levis also seems to have a solid grasp of the offense he is being asked to execute to this point in his progression.

Fellow rookie receiver Colton Dowell shared a room with Levis during the recent rookie minicamp and shared the story of his new teammate's work ethic in learning the playbook.

"Will's a great dude, I'm actually rooming with him in the hotel, and I'm kinda scared to touch the remote because he was the first one in there, and he was looking at his IPad, and he was studying plays, and our remote hasn't moved," laughed Dowell. "He's a very intense guy, and he wants to make the most of this opportunity."

While there is still more for Levis to learn, it seems, at least at this point in his new career, that it's learning to throw with touch that could be the defining part of his future success.
