NASHVILLE - When it comes to Ryan Tannehill, opinions on his ability to be a solid quarterback for the Titans this season vary, and neither side is wrong. That last statement might seem weird or even contradictory in saying both are right, but the evidence proves it.

One stat from the 2022 season that suggests that Tannehill is capable of leading this team is his accuracy on passes of 20 or more yards.

Last season, prior to his season-ending injury, Tannehill completed 43% of his passes over 20 yards. That number was tied with Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, and Davis Mills for fourth, behind Geno Smith, Tua Tagovialoa, and Kirk Cousins, who ranked one, two, and three respectfully.

Besides that simple statistic, Tannehill's record as the Titans starter rests at 36-18 over his three seasons in Nashville but stands at 78-65 all-time, with 42 wins against 47 losses during his stint in Miami as the Dolphins starter.

Of course, Tannehill's detractors will point to his three-interception playoff performance against Cincinnati as their reason as to why he should not even be the Titans starter this season.

Both are valid points, but if the Titans are to have any success this season, and by the move to add DeAndre Hopkins to the roster, the Titans aren't tanking, or rebuilding; they're retooling and setting Tannehill up for one final run toward a possible division crown and a playoff spot.

Tannehill can get this team to the playoffs if the offensive line forms a cohesive unit and the injury luck that has decimated this roster the past two seasons cooperates.

The question, until he answers it, will be, can Tannehill win in the playoffs again as he did in 2020 when he took this franchise to the AFC Championship game?
