Titans Undrafted Rookie Copeland Flashes Ability On Field

When it comes to the wide receiver group for the Tennessee Titans, one of the undrafted free agents has garnered some early attention.

NASHVILLE - Jacob Copeland entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent after failing to hear his name called during the 2023 NFL Draft. That hasn't stopped the former Maryland Terrapin from doing his best in the early stages of the Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp and organized team activities. 

Known for his speed and as a player who at times struggled to catch the football at the college level, Copeland has embraced to opportunity before him with the Titans, having signed a 3-year, 2.7 million deal, with only $50,000 guaranteed and a $10,000 signing bonus, and understanding that he has a tough road ahead as he attempts to make this Titans roster. 

"I'm progressing slowly, but I'm just looking to get better each day and learning the process of being an NFL player going forward," Copeland said following Wednesday's OTA.     

"It feels good being here, and just learning and seeing all the players who've been in the league for a few years, and learning the process, and seeing and learning the good things they do," added Copeland. "I'm just taking advantage of the opportunity to learn all I can from them."

Asked about Copeland and his progress to this point in his young career, Titans wide receivers coach Rob Moore shared this about his rookie receiver. 

"He's got a lot of really cool traits," said Moore. "Right now, it's hard to see them all show up because he's still learning the offense and can't quite play as fast as he wants to, he shows flashes of it, and when he does, it's pretty impressive.      

Some of those traits Moore mentioned include a  4.42 forty time at the NFL Draft Combine, along with a 33" vertical and 10'7" long jump, which shows the athleticism possessed by Copeland. 

It's now up to him to put in the work to learn the offense and then produce on the field, but he is a player with the physical gifts to push those in front of him on the depth chart for a place on this roster. 

Only time will tell if he can earn his way onto the Titans opening-day 53-man roster, but at this point, he is gaining attention.
