NASHVILLE - Tim Kelly, come on down and bring your offensive game plan with you, as it's time for you and the Tennessee Titans to open training camp 2023 in preparation for the coming season.

With some help from passing game coordinator Charles London, the Titans first-year offensive coordinator has brought a new passing mindset and concept to Nashville for the Titans this season. We got a look at it during the most recent OTAs and minicamp.

After averaging a paltry 17.5 points per game in 2022, where only four teams failed to average less, Kelly has brought his system, rooted in the New England Patriots philosophy, which is predicated on playing faster, being flexible, and using players at multiple positions. That versatility comes in part because the passing game concepts are compressed and easier to grasp for the players when moving from position to position.

Most people don't think much of this Titans team. According to the gambling website Fanduel, the over/under wins total is set at just 7.5. They also are a hefty underdog to the Jacksonville Jaguars when it comes to winning the AFC South,. The Jags are the favorite at minus-155, while the Titans are at plus-310. It's the largest gap of any division.

The passing game also consists of shorter drops and short passes to get the ball into the playmaker's hands in space, where they can turn short throws into more extended gains.

While the Titans receiver corps was much maligned ahead of the recent addition of DeAndre Hopkins, that addition, along with the potential of Treylon Burks, Kyle Phillips, and tight end Chig Okonkwo, along with some other such as Chris Moore, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Colton Dowell, and the rest, these players appeared to have quickly grasped this new offense during the offseason program.

They played fast and made plays, including rookie running back Tyjae Spears, who will fill multiple roles this season as a multi-dimensional tool for Kelly, and quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

And we can't forget Derrick Henry and what he can do running and catching the football.

There's no doubt that Kelly and London, who were hot topics during the offseason, will remain such entering training camp. They now will have the opportunity to incorporate Hopkins into the mix and have his skill set and play-making reputation to assist in alleviating some pressure from those young wideouts who, while talented, and coming into their own to do so at a faster pace.

What we witnessed recently looked very intriguing, and it will be one of the most anticipated and followed aspects of this team in the coming days.
