NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans finished the 2022 NFL season with seven wins and missed the playoffs for the first time in three years. According to Fanduel Sportsbook, whether or not the Titans can win more games in 2023 is the biggest question potential bettors will have to answer.

The Titans over/under for 2023 is currently set at 7.5 wins. If the Titans were to finish under that mark, it would mean they did not win more games in 2023 and potentially even less than the seven they won in 2022. If they go over, it doesn’t necessarily mean it was a good season for the Titans as the eight wins needed to go over most likely wouldn’t result in a playoff berth.

While the rest of the offseason, including the NFL Draft in April, could change the win total used by Fanduel, the odds are it would take something more than just a solid on-paper draft class to move that number in a big way. If the number remains the same, how should Titans fans approach it?

You can see reasoning on both sides of the argument. On one hand, the Titans suffered a second year in a row of league-leading injuries. While it requires a touch of optimism, logic also would dictate that the Titans suffer less injuries in 2023. On the other hand, if they have been this injured for two years in a row, why would that stop? The injuries very well could be linked to a real world issue with the Titans medical and training staff or the process in which they deal with injuries or, of course, it’s just bad luck.

If the Titans are able to be healthier, they could resemble the team that went 7-3 to start the year and would be a very good bet to go over 7.5 wins. After all, other than 2022, Titans’ head coach Mike Vrabel has not had a losing season with the team. The Titans still have star players like Derrick Henry, Kevin Byard and Jeffery Simmons. They have enough talent to win eight games or more.

If the Titans have the same bad luck with injuries, the talent issues at wide receiver and offensive line continue to plague them and the new coaching changes don’t have a positive effect, then odds are the Titans could go under the 7.5-win line. Both outcomes are possible which is why the line was set where it was.

For my money, I like the over here, but any bet is a risk.
