Titans Release Offseason Workout Schedule and Why They Matter More in 2023
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans released their offseason activity schedule for all team workouts that take place prior to training camp. It includes the team’s first day back, a trio of offseason workout sessions and finally, mandatory minicamp.
First Day: April 17, 2023
Organized Team Activities: May 22-23 & May 25, May 30-31, June 2, June 12-15
Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
The first day of the offseason workout schedule is April 17. It takes place before the NFL Draft has even started so in nature it won’t be the entire roster participating, but with a new offensive coordinator and a reconfigured coaching staff, it’s more important than ever that expectations be set as early as possible. With the amount of new coaches and executives, it isn’t like the players know exactly what their new direction is.
The Titans have a new offensive coordinator in Tim Kelly that will be adding a lot of new elements to the playbook. Every position coach on the offense, outside of wide receivers coach Rob Moore, changed hands. There were some promotions involved, but it’s mostly a new staff. It will be especially important for young players to get off to a strong start like Kyle Philips, Nicholas Petit-Frere and Malik Willis, but even more so for players on futures contracts who will be fighting for a spot on the back end of the roster or even the practice squad.
The real fun begins with “OTAs” or Organized Team Activities. The Titans will have three of these sessions throughout the offseason. The first session comes on May 22,23 and 25. The second on May 30, 31 and June 2 then the final session takes place from June 12-15. You should certainly see the rookies the Titans draft and more veteran players join the process as the time passes, but there is a good chance a player like Jeffery Simmons or Derrick Henry does not make an appearance.
Finally, we have mandatory minicamp where the bulk of the team will be in attendance. It is the last real step before training camp begins at the end of July each year. One big thing to watch for by mandatory camp is Jeffery Simmons’ contract situation. He is most likely waiting to see some other deals at his position get signed so that he can get more than them, deservedly so, but the Titans should be hoping a new deal is complete by this point.
