Titans Missing True No.1's At Other Key Positions

In this story:
NASHVILLE - While the quarterback position has gotten the majority of the attention heading into the NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans have other glaring needs on their roster that are likely to make deciding who to select in the first round a much more challenging conversation.
While the Titans have an adequate quarterback in Ryan Tannehill, who has proven he can win games, there is a possibility that because of his massive contract, he could be traded or even released to help with cash under the salary cap. That possibility makes drafting a quarterback of the future a possible necessity.
However, the quarterback is not the only position where a true No.1 is needed, and the Titans lack one.
Left Tackle joins the list, and the Titans recently signed Andre Dillard, who is looking to fill that role. However, there is a chance the Titans could add another player in the draft to compete at this position.
Wide receiver is another of those spots where teams must have that guy who can produce at a top level.
The Titans had that guy in A.J. Brown, but we all know that story. Now the Eagles have Brown and Devonte Smith in tandem for Jalen Hurts.
The Dolphins traded for Tyreek Hill and drafted Jalen Waddle for Tua Tagovailoa.
Peyton Manning had Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne in their heydays while Kurt Warner was throwing to Issac Bruce and Torey Holt.
These are just some examples of teams needing a true No.1 and another outstanding player alongside them if they are going to be able to win football games in this league.
While the jury's still out on last year's first-round pick, Treylon Burks, most don't feel he is a No.1 guy, meaning the Titans still must identify that guy who Burks would then team with to give them that one-two punch at receiver this team lacks.
Cornerback is the third position where a team must have a true No.1 player. Again, this is a position where the Titans don't have that guy, or at least none have stepped up into that role.
Caleb Farley was drafted to fill that role because of his physical abilities. However, his injury history at Virginia Tech has followed him to the NFL, and his future is cloudy at best.
Finding a No.1 corner does not mean you have to find the next Deion Sanders, or Darrelle Revis, as those guys don't come along often, but you must have someone capable of playing at the next level below the Hall of Fame to be successful.
Like Burks, the jury is still out on Roger McCreary, but it is clear that while a capable player, Kristian Fulton is not a No.1 guy.
So entering the 2023 draft, the Titans could address any of the positions mentioned in round one, and it would be hard to disagree with adding to that position.
While it's not a good thing that a team needs that much, it's good to have options, and the Titans should have those if they sit at No.11 and don't trade up for the quarterback most people believe they should go after in this draft.
