Titans QB Coach Charles London Sets Expectations for Young QBs in First Preseason Game

In this story:
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans take on the Chicago Bears in their first preseason action of 2023 on Saturday afternoon and all eyes will understandably be on the Titans' young quarterback duo. What will they need to do to impress?
That question was answered by Titans quarterback coach Charles London via A to Z sports, who talked about what he will be looking for and what his expectations for the pair are.
"We want to see them go out there and be able to command the huddle," London explained. "Call the play, we want to see the operation, we want to see how they both handle a gameday environment which will be a good environment there in Chicago. Those are kind of some of the things we're looking for from those guys that we want them to progress on in the preseason."

When London talks about the "operation" he means getting the team lined up and reading the defense correctly pre-snap so you can get the offense in the right play. Making sure motions, checks and audibles are called and executed correctly before the ball is even snapped.
London talked earlier in the day about how Levis is getting more comfortable with all of those things. He did have more of a pro-style offense in college that would have given him some familiarity with those asks.
On the flipside, second-year Willis did not have those same asks in college at Liberty. Willis played primarily out of shotgun and got plays from posters on the sidelines, as is common in college football these days. A big difference from what he is asked to do now.
Willis is taking steps though and London also talked some about what he wants to see from Willis and what he has seen so far.
"We really just want Malik to be Malik," London said. "He's grown this offseason and we just want to see him continue to grow. I think with the positive gains he's put forth throughout the offseason, we want to see him go out there and operate on Saturday."
Looks like it will be a game of operation for the Titans' quarterbacks on Saturday in the Windy City.
