Tennessee Titans Releasing RB Chuck McClelland to Open Roster Spot

In this story:
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans are now making the final touches on their roster as we sit days before the kickoff of 2023 training camp. This week alone the Titans have made moves to try and add some veteran help at positions of need. With DeAndre Hopkins and potentially George Fant coming aboard, the Titans had to make room somehow.
One of the ways they will do so is by releasing running back Chuck McClelland according to his representation and Aaron Wilson. McClelland is an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati. McClelland didn't spend long with the Titans, but it is clear he didn't leave a big enough impression during organized team activities to see camp.

While it is not surprising the Titans are making cuts to make room on the roster nor is it a surprise that those cuts feature long-shot rookies, but it is a bit of a surprise to see ones of those cuts come at running back considering the pending legal trouble of Hassan Haskins. Depending on how it plays out, the Titans could be short two running backs from OTAs.
The Titans are now running thin on running back depth and it may not be a real concern when the regular season rolls around with Derrick Henry, Tajae Spears and Jonathan Ward, but in terms of splitting training camp reps, they need depth to take some carries away from the top of the depth chart.
It has been a tough week for running backs. Whether you are some of the top names in the league looking to get the money you deserve or an undrafted free agent trying to stick on a roster. We will see if McClelland gets another shot in the NFL, but what we know if getting cut now at least gives him a chance to make it to another team's training camp roster.
