Titans Levis Not Alone, 14 Other Unsigned Second-Round Picks

There must be something in the water among second-round draft selections from the 2023 NFL Draft.

NASHVILLE - On Thursday, I offered an article on how Will Levis is the only remaining draft selection from the 2023 draft class that has yet to sign with the Tennessee Titans.

As it turns out, Levis is not alone, as second-round picks from his class that have not yet signed their rookie contracts.

According to an article by Howard Balzer of gophnx.com late Thursday, 14 players selected in round two have yet to agree to terms with their teams on rookie contracts.

"Meanwhile, the first two picks in the second round are also unsigned: Steelers linebacker Joey Porter Jr. and Titans quarterback Will Levis."
"Porter is in an unusual situation because the Dolphins forfeited a first-round choice leaving only 31 picks in the round."
"Surely, Porter’s agents are arguing that being the 32nd overall choice should result in the escalation of his slotted contract, but the system doesn’t account for that. There are those in the agent community that expect Porter and Levis to potentially receive full guarantees for all four years of their contracts."

While my sources indicated that Levis's camp wanted more money in the form of his signing bonus, Balzer's report suggests they want "full guarantees for all four years of their contract."

Per my article, Sam Laporta, who was taken one spot behind Levis at  No. 33, has agreed to terms on his deal, which is reportedly a four-year, $9,465,990 million, with a signing bonus of $3,884,356 million.

Using Laporta's numbers, should Levis receive a fully guaranteed deal, he would be guaranteed to receive the entire $9,465,990 million from the deal regardless of what might occur.

It's highly likely that the two sides will figure this out and come to an agreement in the coming days, as training camp is fast approaching.

Titans rookies are scheduled to report on July 22, with the veterans set to report three days later, on the 25th.
