Pro-Bowl LB Fred Warner Praises Cam Ward's Fearless Attitude for Titans

Cam Ward isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. The Tennessee Titans quarterback has already garnered a reputation in the NFL for his brutal honesty, and according to San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner, that was on full display in the teams' recent joint practice.

In a clip from 95.7 The Game, the four-time Pro-Bowl defender praised Ward's fearless mindset, even as he stands across from one of the meanest defenses in the league. "I think Cam is one of the unique quarterbacks where he's not afraid to sit there and play that game with you," Warner said of Ward.

"I love joint practices, though. It's the best." Warner, after chirping with Ward all practice, was all smiles following the encounter. Ward also spoke on the matter, sharing a similarly positive outlook on their bickering.

"That's what I want to see, because I want him to be at his best. So, when I'm at my best, I know what I can and can't do in a game," said Ward. "He helped me out a lot today, he's a great player."

Ward and Warner Made the Most of a Chippy Practice

Not every Titans player can share that optimism, as both Austin Deculus and Dan Moore Jr. got booted from practice due to their own altercations. But for Ward, it's healthy to get mixed up with an experienced defender this early in his career, especially if he doesn't take the beef to heart.

Ward embracing the trash talk also aligns well with Carnell Tate's "fast and violent" quote after the practice. Tennessee's rookie receiver saw the intensity as a benefit for the Titans more than anything else. The battle was a chance for Tennessee, in Tate's words, to prove "who we are."

Heading into Thursday's preseason opener against San Francisco, we'll be looking out for a Titans team playing with that tenacity on the whole.

After all, it'll be the same 49ers team that just attempted to bully the Titans all practice facing off against them again. Only this time, they'll have the benefit of a home field and a bastion of fans looking to witness their first win of the year.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Ward and the Titans are trying to make an early statement to the NFL under their new head coach. That sets the stage for an unusually tense preseason matchup.
