NHL's All-Star SuperSkills
The Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens, hosted the NHL's All-Star SuperSkills competition Saturday night.
Andrew Cogliano
Andrew Cogliano was crowned the fastest skater at the SuperSkills competition Saturday night, flying around the rink in 14.31 seconds and beating Jeff Carter by over 1/10th of a second.
Patrick Kane
Patrick Kane flopped on his stomach and gloved the puck across for a one-armed sweep shot (unsuccessfully) during the Breakaway Challenge.
Alex Kovalev
Alex Kovalev broke out his soccer skills during the Breakaway Challenge, playing the puck off his head on his first attempt and then tossing it into the air and balancing it on the back of his neck for his second and third attempts.
Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin
Evgeni Malkin helped last year's Breakaway Challenge champ Alex Ovechkin don a pair of sunglasses and a hat decorated with a Canadian flag before refreshing him with a squirt of Gatorade. Ovechkin then borrowed Malkin's stick on his last shot in the event.
Blake Wheeler
Blake Wheeler was named the MVP of the YoungStars Game as his Rookie team defeated the Sophomores 9-5. The Boston rookie had a hat trick and added two assists, making him the obvious choice as MVP, even if he plays for the hated Bruins.
Evgeni Malkin
Evgeni Malkin claimed the shooting accuracy title, hitting three of four targets in a playoff with Ottawa's Dany Heatley after both nailed all four targets in four shots in the opening round.
Zdeno Chara
Boston captain Zdeno Chara broke Al Iafrate's 16-year-old hardest shot record with a blistering 105.4 mph slap shot on the final attempt of the event.
Shane Doan
Phoenix's Shane Doan scored on four of six penalty shot attempts to outlast Boston's Marc Savard in the elimination shootout finale that featured all 36 skaters taking turns against four All-Star goalies. Doan's biggest fan was his daughter Gracie, who hugged him from the players' bench.
