It's not just bears in the forest that frighten Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov now. It's unstoppable meteors hellbent on destroying the earth and taking our attention away from hockey.

Bryzgalov, appearing on the Mike and Ike Show on Philadelphia radio station WIP this morning, was asked for his thoughts on the meteor that exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, last week.

Seriously, we need to treasure this guy.

"It's amazing. You know, probably every day our atmosphere was penetrated with smaller-sized of meteors and just burned high in the atmosphere. But this is much bigger size, but not that big that it struck the earth like the Tunguska meteorite and like far, far beyond, like back in the days when dinosaurs were all destroyed. It’s one thing that's very interesting. On the other hand, it’s dangerous. And you know we can’t protect ourselves from the space danger.

"The next day, the asteroid bigger sized fly close to the earth. Make us think ... like a metal thing at huge speeds in the earth ... It's going to be a disaster right now... Probably not going to be thinking about hockey It's going to be how to recover the earth, how to survive. I think we need to be thankful and be happy. Enjoy our every day with our relatives, our wives, kids. Enjoy our work every day."

Solid advice.

You can catch the whole interview here. Before he got to celestial matters, Bryzgalov makes a very salient point about battling exhaustion in this shortened season that shouldn't be overlooked. He appeared sluggish in the loss to Florida last night, but at this point the struggling Flyers might not be able to rest him. Keep an eye on Bryz to see if this becomes an issue. And keep the other on the skies. Just in case.
