An annotated guide to this morning's must-read hockey stories:

• The Kings are finding the road to the 2013 Stanley Cup is a lot more difficult than the one they took last season.

Joe Thorntoncame up big when his Sharks needed him most. Which, according to my calculations, was the first 30 minutes of last night's game. After that, all they needed was Antti Niemi.

Brent Burns showed off both sides of his game last night. One of 'em wasn't so great.

• Mike Richards says the Kings embarrassed themselves with their poor start in Game 4.

Henrik Lundqvist never saw the shot that beat him for the winning goal on Tuesday night. He didn't see much help from his teammates, either.

• Boston was led to victory by a hard-working fourth line. Seriously, acquiring these guys may go down as one of the greatest achievements of GM Peter Chiarelli's career.

• Is this Hawgie Hockey, Part II? don't remember Hawgie Hockey???

• Pierre McGuire delivered the line of his career last night after a confrontation with John Tortorella. Even his legion of haters had to admire this one.

• Apparently there is some bad blood brewing between Chris Neil and Brooks Orpik. You don't suppose this will carry over into Game 4, do you?

• Now that the Senators have their first win in their series against the Penguins, it'd be nice if they managed to earn their first lead. Scoring the opening goal will be critical in Game 4.

• The Pens are hoping to get a spark from the return of Jussi Jokinen. Wait...really? Sid and Geno are still planning on showing up, right?

• There's no doubt who Dan Bylsma will start in goal for the Pens.

• Sounds like the Detroit Red Wingshave gotten into the heads of the frustrated Blackhawks.

• TSN offered up its Top-10 Pavel Datsyuk moments last night. Guess he has a little natural talent after all, eh Glenn Healy?

• If the Blackhawks don't look like themselves in this series, here's why.

• Surprise! Pending RFA Alex Burmistrov wants out of Winnipeg. The onus now is on GM Kevin Cheveldayoff to deal him for a return equal to the value of the former eighth overall pick.

• So, the new arena in Edmonton is supposed to be pretty good.

• Are the Colorado Avalanche about to lose out on Patrick Roy as their coach for the second time in four years? Oh, when will we learn to use social media responsibly?

• The Dallas Stars will reveal their new logo and uniforms at a special event on June 4. The team also promised a special surprise. Their fans are hoping it is an announcement that the Western Conference will allow nine teams into the playoffs next year, because otherwise...
