Dean Chelios could tell you all about the advantages of having an NHL player for a dad. Winning the gene-pool lottery, free ice time, hanging around other hockey stars, getting tips straight from a pro. It's a pretty sweet set up.

But there's also a downside, as the Red Wings' hopeful learned the hard way.

Chelios' dad, soon-to-be Hall of Famer Chris Chelios, is helping out at Detroit's development camp, where Dean is currently trying to make an impression. Chris also happens to be a bit of a prankster, and now that Dean is one of the boys, he's fair game.

Especially on his 24th birthday.

Here's what happened next, courtesy Brendan Savage at mlive.com:

"I was on my guard before practice because I knew a few people knew about the birthday," Dean Chelios said. "After [practice] my dad said something about my helmet and kind of distracted me and they got me."

"It was right after the first skate," Chelios said. "I was all tired and wasn't expecting anything and my dad distracted me and Sproul got me."

Gotta love a good sport. Cream-faced Dean posed for a picture alongside his saintly father to commemorate the moment.
