It appears that Brian Burke has finally found his man.

Brad Treliving, who spent the past seven seasons as the assistant general manager of the Coyotes, is expected to be introduced soon -- possibly on Monday -- as the new GM of the Flames.

Treliving has been regarded for the last few years as a prime candidate for just about every open GM job in the NHL. He's known as a shrewd talent evaluator, an exceptionally hard worker and a guy who learned how to stretch a dollar while working under Phoenix GM Don Maloney. It's expected that Treliving will bring the Coyotes' model of drafting and slowly developing talent to a Calgary franchise that is in the early stages of a complete overhaul.

Treliving was in charge of the pro and amateur scouting staffs in Phoenix, so he could ask for permission to bring some of his people to the Flames. It's unlikely that would happen ahead of this year's draft, but it could mean a damaging talent drain in the desert.
