Stanley Cup Final ticket scalpers get soaked for Game 4 at MSG

Somebody break out the Mr. Bubble. The scalpers in New York are taking a bath.

The swift, cruel demise of the city's Stanley Cup dreams has crushed the secondary market demand for tickets to Wednesday night's Game 4 at Madison Square Garden (8 p.m. ET, NBCSN, CBC, RDS). With the Rangers trailing three games to none, and with the real possibility of having to watch the Kings skate with the Cup at the end of the night, demand has dropped precipitously.

According to the folks at seatgeek.com, the average price on the secondary market today is $904, down 40 percent from an average of $1,525 on Monday, and a whopping 53 percent drop from an average of $1,937 per ticket prior to the start of the series.

The get-in price for scalped tickets is now $432 for Game 4, which is below face value for the 400-level "cheap" seats at MSG -- $484.45, fees included, is the lowest face value for Stanley Cup finals games at MSG. Before New York's soul-crushing 3-0 loss in Game 3, the get-in price for Game 4 was nearly double what it is now, at $919 per ticket. It was at $1,089 a week ago.
