Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux is expected to miss two weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Friday.

• HAMILTON: Little things are key for Blackhawks

"This just happened today. Its the first day of camp and guys go 100 miles per-hour and things happen," general manager Ron Hextall said. "Obviously its not the way you want to start. That's the hand we were dealt and we're going to deal with it."

In the regular season, Giroux scored 28 goals and had 58 assists to lead the team in points last season with 86. His six postseason points also led the team during its first-round loss to the New York Rangers.

Philadelphia plays its first preseason game on Sept. 22 in London against the Maple Leafs. The Flyers open the regular season Oct. 8 against the Boston Bruins.
