The Devils on Sunday cut veteran defenseman MIke Komisarek, the team tweeted.

The 32-year-old, now an unrestricted free agent, was released by the club in its first round of cuts. He appeared in 32 games for the Hurricanes last season.

The seventh overall pick by the Canadiens in the 2001 draft, Komisarek has 81 points in 551 games between his time with Montreal, the Maple Leafs and the Hurricanes.
