Nashville will host the 2016 NHL All-Star Game at Bridgestone Arena, John Shannon of Sportsnet reports.

It will be the first time the Predators have hosted the All-Star Game since joining the league as an expansion franchise in 1998.

Because of the 2013 lockout and 2014 Winter Olympics, the NHL has not played an All-Star Game since 2012, when the Ottawa Senators hosted the event.

This season's game will be hosted by the Columbus Blue Jackets, who were originally scheduled to host the event in 2013. The NHL is expected to make a formal announcement at noon on Friday in Nashville regarding the 2016 game.

Earlier this month, the NHL announced Buffalo will host the 2016 draft.
