The Buffalo Sabres have suspended defenseman Nikita Zadorov for failing to report to the team on time following the All-Star break, the team announced Monday.
Zadorov missed Monday's practice, but his suspension is not expected to be lengthy.
"We anticipate Nikita joining the team at some point during this week's western road trip," general manager Tim Murray said in a statement.
The Sabres' four-game road swing begins Tuesday at the Calgary Flames. Buffalo will then travel to Edmonton to play the Oilers on Thursday, Vancouver on Friday to play the Canucks and Montreal on Feb. 3 to face the Canadiens. The Sabres will return home on Feb. 5 to play the St. Louis Blues.
Zadorov, 19, has recorded two goals and six assists in an average of 19:30 of ice team in 34 games this season.
