Sharks’ prospect Goldobin celebrates AHL first star honors with his mom

Monday January 4th, 2016

Mother’s Day isn’t for another four months, but don’t tell that to Nikolay Goldobin, a Russian forward playing for the American Hockey League’s San Jose Barracuda.

Goldobin, the San Jose Sharks’ first pick in 2014, scored his first AHL hat trick and recorded four points in a 5-1 win over the Texas Stars on Sunday. After he was named the game’s first star, Goldobin shared the moment with his mother, who was making a rare visit from Russia.

Goldobin has nine goals and five assists in 21 games with the Barracuda this season. He has one goal in nine NHL games with the Sharks
