We're almost at the mid-point of the NHL season as we approach the All-Star break, and the Stanley Cup contenders have started to separate themselves from the pack. The Washington Capitals are atop the Eastern Conference, while the Chicago Blackhawks, who had their 12-game win streak snapped by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, lead the West.

• Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said that the team is not going to fire coach Michel Therrien despite his being on the hot seat, reports TSN Montreal's John Lu.

• The Lightning are “actively and aggressively” trying to trade forward Jonathan Drouin, reports the Tampa Tribune's Erik Erlendsson. Drouin requested a trade three weeks ago, and Tampa Bay suspended him two days ago for failing to report to an AHL game.

• Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney acknowledged that the team is willing to trade forward Loui Eriksson.

• The Anaheim Ducks have tradedJiri Sekac to the Chicago Blackhawks for Ryan Garbutt, reports TSN's Frank Seravalli.

• Canadiens goalie Carey Pricewon't return until after the All-Star break, reports The Globe And Mail's Bill Beacon. Price has been out of the lineup suffering a lower-body injury on Nov. 25.

• The Columbus Blue Jackets announced that goalie Sergei Bobrovsky suffered a lower-body injury in their 4–2 loss to the Calgary Flames. He will be re-evaluated Friday to find out the full extent of the injury.

• Vancouver Canucks forward Daniel Sedin became the franchise's all-time leading scorer with his 347th goal in their 4–2 win over the Boston Bruins.
