A bus carrying Olympic media members was shot at while leaving an event Tuesday, according to multiplereports.

Media members have been using buses that travel between the media center to and from event venues. The media bus shot at Tuesday was leaving a women’s basketball game between Turkey and Japan, according to the Hoopfeed Twitter account.

Two people were injured but not seriously, according to reports. Windows were smashed but the shots fired did not penetrate the glass. 

Olympic organizers have insisted the objects that hit the bus were rocks, not bullets, according to Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star.

In response to the incident, military police police in Rio de Janeiro will be stepping up security measures, according to the Associated Press.

It is unclear what the motivation for the shooting was, but the games have been mired in controversy since Day 1.

The Rio government has come under criticism from some citizens for the amount of money spent on the games. Groups have been protesting the Olympics, while Brazil is also dealing with political controversy within its executive branch.
