Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale will not be part of the squad on Wednesday when it plays Liverpool at Anfield in a Champions League Group Stage match, according to The Guardian.
The 25-year-old Welsh star is dealing with a muscle injury that kept him on the bench during Real Madrid's victory over Levante in La Liga action on Saturday. Bale was available to play, but he was left on the bench by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
It is still unknown whether Bale will be able to compete in this weekend's El Clasico against Barcelona.
Real Madrid won the Champions League last season. The club is unbeaten in group play so far this year, while Liverpool has won one match and lost another.
In two Champions League appearances so far this year, Bale has one goal and one assist. He has four goals and three assists in seven matches for Real Madrid in league play.
