Wednesday January 21st, 2015

Real Madrid has acquired 16-year-old Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard through a transfer with Stromsgodset, the Spanish club announced Wednesday.

Terms of the agreement were not immediately disclosed.

Odegaard made his first appearance for Norway's senior team in August, when he was still 15. In 23 appearances with Stromsgodset, Odegaard tallied five goals and seven assists.

The midfielder will likely begin his time at Real Madrid with the club's B team, according to the BBC. The B team is coached by Real Madrid great Zinedine Zidane.

Los Blancos are currently first in La Liga with 45 points, one ahead of Barcelona. Real Madrid plays Cordoba on Saturday.
