Jose Mourinho’s agent: No contract proposal from Manchester United

Wednesday December 23rd, 2015

Jose Mourinho, who was fired by Chelsea last week, has not received a contract proposal from Manchester United to replace Louis van Gaal as manager, his agent told Globoesporte.

Mourinho has been linked with the position in the wake of United’s poor play of late; the club fell out of the top four in the Premier League and were eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage, leading many to speculate that van Gaal could be on the way out.

But Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes told Globoesporte “There is nothing.”

“We don’t know what will happen in the future,” he said, ”but now there is no agreement. There isn’t an official proposal either, that’s not true.”

Mourinho led Chelsea to a Premier League title last year, as well as in 2004 and 2007 in his first stint as the club’s manager, but failed to find success this season. Before his firing, the club was in 16th place in the Premier League, just a point above regulation.
