NBA Christmas Day at Madison Square Garden is a tradition like no other for New York Knicks fans. Ahead of the NBA schedule release, Kalshi’s NBA market is offering selection on who the Knicks' Christmas Day opponent will be.

Most of the league's top contenders sit at the top of the market, with an NBA Finals rematch with the San Antonio Spurs topping the board. Kalshi grades the market when the NBA releases the schedule, based on which team faces the Knicks on December 25th. A $10 trade on the Spurs being their opponent profits $21.48.

New York Knicks Christmas Day opponents - Kalshi

  • San Antonio Spurs 24%
  • Philadelphia 76ers 23%
  • Boston Celtics 23%
  • Indiana Pacers 16%
  • Miami Heat 14%

Finals rematch?

Topping the board is an NBA Finals rematch with San Antonio. NBA Finals rematches are not uncommon on Christmas Day, with nine instances all-time and all coming since the 1995 season. The last NBA Finals rematch on Christmas Day came in 2017 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.

LeBron James is coming to town

LeBron and the 76ers would arguably deliver the biggest game of any team on the board. Kalshi suggests that the 76ers could be the Knicks' Opening Day opponent

Not that LeBron playing in MSG wouldn’t pull viewers, but the league could opt to host Christmas Day in Philadelphia. LeBron has also played home games on Christmas Day more often in recent seasons, with five of his last seven being on his home court.

Celtics make their case

This wouldn’t be surprising. Boston and New York last played on Christmas Day in 2016. This comes down to how the NBA views Boston’s offseason, as the league usually doesn’t reward teams with a Christmas Day game unless it feels that team will be a contender.

Hali vs. Brunson

Nobody would bat an eye if the Indiana Pacers end up facing the Knicks this year. This is a renewed rivalry highlighted by two of the best point guards in the league in Tyrese Haliburton and Jalen Brunson. Haliburton missed all of last season after tearing his right Achilles. The last time the two faced off fully healthy was in the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals. Needless to say, this matchup deserves a Christmas Day slot.

A Greek Christmas

Rounding out the top-5 is a historic rivalry with the Miami Heat and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The only thing stopping this matchup is that the league usually opts to host the Heat’s Christmas Day games in Miami. The Heat have played in a Christmas Day game six times since 2012, with five of them being in South Florida, including the last four.
