NASCAR CEO Brian France, drivers endorse Donald Trump

NASCAR CEO Brian France, Hall of Fame driver Bill Elliott and current drivers Chase Elliott, Ryan Newman and David Regan endorsed presidential candidate Donald Trump during a rally at Valdosta State University in Georgia.

NASCAR CEO Brian France, Hall of Fame driver Bill Elliott and current drivers Chase Elliott, Ryan Newman and David Regan endorsed presidential candidate Donald Trump during a rally at Valdosta State University in Georgia, according to USA Today.

“He wins with his family,” France said. “Any of his children, you’d be proud of have them as part of your family. That’s how I judge a winner, how somebody manages their family and raises their family.”

Before each driver had the chance to talk about Trump, the billionaire claimed that if he gained the vote of NASCAR fans, that the election could be canceled now. 

“Nobody else can win. Nobody,” he said.

The endorsement from NASCAR’s boss did stir some backlash from at least one major sponsor.

Marcus Lemonis, who is the CEO of Camping World, which is the truck series sponsor, took to Twitter to show his displeasure with the decision.

Last year, the truck series banquet was moved from a Trump hotel to a different location after Lemonis, who is Lebanese, said that neither he or any of his employees would attend an event at a Trump–owned location.

According to ESPN, NASCAR spokesman David Higdon claimed that France’s endorsement was private and did not speak for all of NASCAR.
