The Texans took Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 1 overall selection, the third time in franchise history the team has picked first.
In 2002, as an expansion team, they selected Fresno State quarterback David Carr. In 2006, the team surprised pundits by selecting North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams over USC running back Reggie Bush.
Houston will also pick first in Round 2.
