Major League Soccer side Chivas USA have acquired Mariano Trujillo. The Mexican holds a green card, so does not count against Chivas USA's international slots.

A 31-year-old veteran of Pumas, UNAM, Santos Laguna, Morelia, and Atlante, Trujillo is equally competent in right midfield and right back. He has suited up largely at right back for Chivas USA in preseason, and has been training with the club since February.

"We are pleased to add a player of Mariano Trujillo's experience to our squad," said Chivas USA Head Coach Preki Radosavljevic. "Mariano has performed well with us during the past month of our preseason. We hope that his speed, technical ability and versatility will be a great addition to Chivas USA."

The Los Angeles-based club lost its Mexican contingent this offseason when Francisco Mendoza joined sister-club Chivas de Guadalajara and captain Claudio Suarez retired. The additions of Trujillo and striker Eduardo Lillingston help keep at least a small Mexican identity at Chivas USA.
