A day after Mexican media reported Tigres' acquisition of Jesus Corona, Cruz Azul instead wound up landing the Mexican national-team goalkeeper.

Corona's father and agent, Jesus Corona Sr., had told reporters that "only minor details" remained between Corona Jr. and Tigres. Cruz Azul, though, made a late offer and convinced the player and father/agent to head to Mexico City instead.

"At the end of the day, I believe the right amount of money was paid for his services," Tecos President Juan Jose Frangie told Mexican daily Milenio. "He is going to a serious and respectable institution like Cruz Azul."

According to Milenio, Cruz Azul paid just less than $300,000 for Corona. --Goal.com
