Watch: Clint Dempsey scores in USMNT's loss to Panama in Gold Cup
Clint Dempsey scored in the United States men's national team's Gold Cup loss to Panama on Saturday.
Down 1–0, Michael Bradley played a lofted through ball to DeAndre Yedlin, who controlled and turned to put the ball on a platter for Dempsey. The goal was his Gold Cup-leading seventh of the tournament.
Dempsey has now scored 48 goals in his international career, and is within nine of Landon Donovan's record for the United States.
The Americans lost in a shootout 3-2. It was their first shootout since they beat Panama in the Gold Cup final in 2005.
Both Dempsey and Yedlin were second half substitutions for the Americans.

Because they won the 2013 Gold Cup, the United States men's national team can still play in the 2017 Confederations Cup if they beat the winner of Sunday's Mexico-Jamaica final in a playoff game on Oct. 9.
