Romania has the tough task of being the opponent for host France's tournament-opening match of Euro 2016 and it will likely need to rely on its defense to fend off the powerful Les Bleus on their home turf.

Captain Razvan Rat and Vlad Chiriches are among those marshaling the back line in front of Fiorentina goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu. The Romania defense has had some highs and lows in pre-Euro friendlies. It shut out Spain in late March in a 0-0 draw, but also conceded four to Ukraine in its most recent match, a 4-3 loss in a friendly on May 29.

Romania must also play Switzerland and Albania in Group A.
