Lionel Messi broke Argentina’s national-team record for goals scored on Tuesday.

Messi’s 55th international score came in the Copa America against the United States. He tied Gabriel Batistuta’s previous record of 54 last week against Venezuela.

Messi scored the record-breaker in the 31st minute on an absolutely sublime free kick, which he buried in the top-right corner of the goal. It gave Argentina a 2-0 lead at the time, and La Albiceleste went on to win 4-0 to secure their place in the Copa America final for a second straight summer.
