‘Now Considering It’—Barcelona Gem Rethinking Future As Enticing Suitors Line Up

Marc Casadó was one of the breakout stars of the 2024–25 campaign, but questions over his future at Barcelona have resurfaced amid a subdued season.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes is set to be a busy man in Catalonia this summer, and sorting out a potential next destination for Casadó will rank highly among his priorities.
The Spanish midfielder, who graduated from La Masia, provided stellar mitigation when Pedri and/or Frenkie de Jong were absent last season, and was convinced by Hansi Flick to stay at the club in the summer. However, Casadó has since been usurped in the midfield depth chart and is likely to reconsider offers that remain on the table.
Marc Casadó to Reconsider Barcelona Future This Summer

AS report a proposal from Saudi Arabia was made a "few months ago,” likely engineered by Mendes, and is still an option for the 22-year-old midfielder. What Saudi Pro League club(s) are after him hasn’t been made clear, but any proposal from that part of the world boasts the perks of generational wealth.
Casadó resisted the temptation last summer after a breakout campaign, but a reduced role for Flick’s team this season will spark a rethink.
While Pedri and De Jong have once again had fitness issues this season, not to mention the long-term knee injury Gavi’s only recently recovered from, Casadó’s minutes have been prized away from him by the emerging Marc Bernal.
His own injury issues meant he didn’t feature during the final two months of Barcelona’s treble-winning season, but he‘d already racked up almost 2,500 minutes of action by mid-March. Casadó has notched just 1,276 minutes this time around and has started just three La Liga games in 2026.
AS’s report suggests there’s also Premier League interest in the 22-year-old, with Chelsea tenuously linked last summer.
Barça Likely Must Sell Before They Buy

Joan Laporta’s lever-pulling has helped Barcelona get by in the short-term, but their financial woes have not yet escaped them.
So, if the squad is to be rejuvenated this summer, the club is expected to have to sell before they buy. Dani Olmo is among those generating transfer interest, with Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah supposedly after him, while Alejandro Balde‘s future may also come under scrutiny.
Barça want to sign João Cancelo and Marcus Rashford permanently, but are also said to be considering deals for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, a left-sided center back and a striker.
Micky van de Ven, Luka Vušković and Julian Álvarez have all been linked with moves to Catalonia, but there’s simply no chance the La Liga champions would be able to facilitate such a busy transfer window if they’re unable to part ways with seemingly disposable assets.
While Olmo and Balde will only likely move on if Barça receive mammoth offers, Casadó’s indifferent campaign means potential suitors probably won’t have to pay a premium for his services.
