Carli Lloyd Hints Retirement After 2021 Olympics
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carli Lloyd is considering retiring after next years summer's Olympic games in Tokyo.
Lloyd shared in an episode of Charlie Webster's My Sporting Mind that, “My long-term goal is to make another Olympic team and win another Olympic gold medal with my teammates. Hopefully that dream can come true next summer and then I'll probably get a little taste of retirement and the next chapter."
The two-time World Cup champion and two-time FIFA Player of the Year, would first need to make the 18 player Olympic roster. The 38 year old is currently rehabbing a knee injury but shared that she is remaining focused on making the team. After that, Lloyd shared her and her husband would like to start a family. She also said she really enjoys doing coaching clinics.
Although Llyod has plans for the future, right now she is focused on winning her third Olympic gold medal.Sharing that would be the best way to end her historic career.
