Roger Federer is slated to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles for Switzerland at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August.
Federer, who will turn 35 during the Olympics, has never won a gold medal in his career. He took silver at the 2012 Olympics in London as he lost to Great Britain's Andy Murray in the finals.
The 17-time Grand Slam Champion has previously said that he plans to play doubles with Martina Hingis, who will make her return to the Summer Games for the first time since 1996. In Atlanta, Hingis finished tied to 17th in singles competition and fifth in doubles with Patty Schnyder. In Rio, she will only compete in the doubles and mixed doubles.
The other members of the preliminary Olympic team are Timea Bacsinszky, Belinda Bencic, Stan Wawrinka and doubles specialist Xenia Knoll.
Federer and Wawrinka won gold in the doubles in Beijing in 2008.

The 2016 Olympics begin on Aug. 5 with tennis taking place from Aug. 6 to 14.
