California and Ole Miss have agreed to a home-and-home football series starting in 2017, the University of California announced.

The Rebels will visit Cal on Sept. 16, 2017, with the Golden Bears traveling to Oxford on Sept. 21, 2019.

The new series caused California to postpone its series with Auburn for one year. California will now play Auburn on the road Sept. 19, 2020, and Sept. 18, 2021, in Berkeley.

It will be California’s first meeting with either school.

“Today's announcement of a home-and-home series with Ole Miss continues our philosophy of adding games that will be attractive to our fans and showcase Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium, our campus and the entire Bay Area,” Cal athletic director Mike Williams said.

Cal also has upcoming non-conference games with North Carolina (2017, 2018) and TCU (2020, 2021).

Next season, Cal has out-of-conference games at home against FCS opponent Grambling State (Sept. 5), San Diego State (Sept. 12) and a road game at Texas (Sept. 19).

California finished 5-7 (3-6 Pac-12) in 2014 in coach Sonny Dykes' second season at the school. The Golden Bears have missed the postseason in each of the past three seasons.
