The UConn Huskies and South Carolina Gamecocks met in the National Championship Game in the 2024-25 season, but only one will make it back this season.

Azzi Fudd and the Huskies are set as favorites in the Final Four against Joyce Edwards and the Gamecocks, making for a marquee matchup on Friday night.

UConn has not lost a game this season while two of South Carolina’s three losses have come against another Final Four team in Texas.

South Carolina was the final No. 1 seed to reach the Final Four, blowing out TCU on Monday night. Now, it’s looking to avenge last season’s 23-point loss to the Huskies in the national titlegame.

All week long, the SI Betting team will have a ton of picks for the two Final Four matchups, and I’ve already shared the latest national title odds, where UConn is still heavily favored.

Before releasing an official betting prediction later in the week, I’ve decided to share an early lean in this game by predicting the final score of this Final Four clash using the latest odds from FanDuel to help shape the pick.

South Carolina vs. UConn Odds, Spread and Total

Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook

Spread

  • South Carolina +6.5 (-112)
  • UConn -6.5 (-108)

Moneyline

  • South Carolina: +194
  • UConn: -245

Total

  • 136.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Earlier this week, I wrote in the opening odds story for this game that I lean with South Carolina to cover, as UConn simply hasn’t faced a ton of elite teams in the 2025-26 season.

These teams are elite on both ends of the floor, and it’s worth noting that UConn failed to cover the spread in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 when it was favored by 25 or more points. Meanwhile, South Carolina easily covered against TCU in the Elite 8 after falling behind early in the first quarter.

So, can the Gamecocks keep this matchup within two possessions?

South Carolina vs. UConn Final Score Prediction

Not only does this game feature two elite teams that are top four in the country in adjusted offensive and adjusted defensive efficiency, but it also has two Hall of Fame coaches in Geno Auriemma and Dawn Staley.

So, adjustments are going to matter a ton on Friday night, and I don’t think there is as big of talent gap between these teams as there was last year when Bueckers was leading the way for UConn.

When it comes to this game, these teams are pretty equal across the board in advanced stats, except there could be an advantage for South Carolina on the boards. Can the Gamecocks steal a few possessions to keep this game close?

South Carolina ranks 13th in the country in offensive rebound rate, and it ranks inside the top 10 in 2-point and 3-point percentage. The Huskies are No. 1 and 2 in those two categories, but they haven’t exactly dominated offensively in the NCAA Tournament, shooting 40 percent from the field against UNC and 44.4 percent from the field against Notre Dame.

South Carolina has a ton of size on the defensive end that should make this a tougher game for the Huskies than they’ve been used to playing this season. UConn’s only games against a team that was a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament came against Iowa (a 26-point win) and Michigan (a three-point win).

I think this ends up being a one-possession game, especially after the Huskies struggled offensively against UNC and failed to pull away against Notre Dame in the first half.

Final Score Prediction: UConn 70, South Carolina 67
