Texas center Dominic Espinosa to have surgery for fractured bone in leg

Monday September 1st, 2014

Texas center Dominic Espinosa fractured a bone in his leg during the team's season opener and will have surgery on Wednesday, Texas coach Charlie Strong announced Monday. According to reports, Espinosa will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Espinosa, a senior, has started 40 games during his career at Texas. He will be evaluated after surgery to determine his recovery timetable.

Who is Jake Raulerson, the new Texas center?

Espinosa's replacement, redshirt freshman Jake Raulerson, and quarterback David Ash botched an exchange in the end zone on Saturday, leading to North Texas' only touchdown. Raulerson also missed a block, resulting in a hit on Ash.

The Longhorns won the game 38-7. Texas hosts BYU on Saturday night in Austin.
