Oklahoma beats Texas Tech 38-30 to hand the Red Raiders their first loss in 2013

Trailing No. 17 Oklahoma 38-30 with 1:17 remaining in the fourth quarter, Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb readied for the snap at his own 25-yard line. Webb, along with fellow freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield, had led Red Raiders to a surprising 7-0 start and a No. 10 ranking in coach Kliff Kingsbury's debut campaign. Now, Texas Tech needed to go 75 yards to keep its hopes for an unbeaten season alive.

Against a tough Sooners defense, and in front of a raucous crowd in Norman, it turns out that even one yard was too much for the Red Raiders to ask.

Oklahoma defensive tackle Chuka Ndulue sacked Webb for a 13-yard loss on first down, and Webb then threw three straight incompletions to seal the Sooners' 38-30 victory on Saturday. The sequence effectively ended what had been a back-and-forth game. Texas Tech led 24-21 late in the third quarter before Oklahoma wideout Lacoltan Bester and running back Damien Williams rushed for momentum-changing touchdowns that put the Sooners up 35-24. Red Raiders tailback Kenny Williams scored from one yard out with 7:13 left to play, but Oklahoma kicker Michael Hunnicutt's field goal, and the Sooners' last-minute defensive stand, sealed the victory.
