UConn Huskies will face Kentucky Wildcats in national championship game

After their respective wins at the Final Four on Saturday, Monday's national championship game will feature the Connecticut Huskies and the Kentucky Wildcats. Game time is 9:10 p.m. ET and it will be televised by CBS. UConn was the No. 8 seed in the East and Kentucky was the No. 7 seed in the Midwest, making this the title game with the highest combined seeds.

UConn knocked out Florida, the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, 63-53 and never trailed in the second half. The Huskies have won three national championships -- in 1999, 2004 and 2011 -- and have never lost the title game. Connecticut beat Kentucky in the 2011 Final Four en route to its most recent championship.

The Wildcats won a 74-73 thriller against Wisconsin to continue their outstanding tournament run. For the second game in a row, Kentucky's Aaron Harrison hit a three-pointer with only seconds to go, giving his team the win. Last week, Harrison beat Michigan in the Elite Eight with a deep three and he hit one against the Badgers from almost the exact same spot on the left wing with 5.7 seconds remaining.

The Wildcats have won eight national championships -- in 1948, 1949, 1951, 1958, 1978, 1996, 1998 and 2012 -- the second most in NCAA history behind only UCLA's 11. Kentucky lost the title game in 1966, 1975 and 1997.
