The Texas Longhorns finished last season with a record of 8-5 (7-2) and finished in fourth place in the Big 12. Longtime coach Mack Brown resigned after last season and was replaced by former Louisville coach Charlie Strong.

Texas will have a pair of talented running backs, Johnathan Gray and Malcolm Brown, returning this season. David Ash will be the team's starting quarterback.
