USC senior running back Anthony Brown quit the team and accused head coach Steve Sarkisian of being a racist.
Sarkisian announced Brown's departure Thursday, according to Lindsey Thiry of the Los Angeles Times. In response to Brown's allegations of racism and his decision to leave the team, Sarkisian said he was "shocked."
Brown posted a photo on Instagram on Thursday with the caption "Sark treated me like a slave in his Office...Can't play for a racist MAN!!!!! #Fighton."
Brown later deleted the post.
During 2014 fall camp, Brown switched from cornerback to tailback. He made six starts with the Trojans and had 43 career tackles. Sarkisian is entering his first season as Trojans head coach.
The Trojans open the season Saturday against Fresno State.
