Tennessee senior left tackle Jacob Gilliam will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL, Tennessee coach Butch Jones said.

Gilliam was injured during the Vols' season opening 38-7 win over Utah State.

He is a former walk-on who earned a scholarship in May and was making his first career start against Utah State. He appeared in three games over the last two seasons with Tennessee before earning a starting job heading into this season.

Jones said Dontavius Blair, redshirt freshman Brett Kendrick and true freshman Cole Thomas will compete to take the starting spot in Gilliam's absence.
