Alabama coach Nick Saban said Wednesday that he knows offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is "committed to us right now," according to AL.com.

Saban's comments come less than a week after a report surfaced saying Kiffin was the frontrunner for the San Francisco 49ers' vacant offensive coordinator position.

Under Kiffin last season, Alabama ranked fourth in the SEC in yards per play and second in points per game. The Crimson Tide finished 12-2 after losing to Ohio State in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

Kiffin was asked in December whether he plans to remain with Alabama for next season.

"Yes. Definitely," he said. "I think that we've still got a lot of stuff we can do better. We'll obviously be working with a new quarterback, and that will be exciting. We've done that before. To me, that's always exciting, the unknown. You've got a new quarterback to see if we can do this again, to see if we can perform really well."

Alabama recently lost defensive assistants Kevin Steele and Lance Thompson to LSU and Auburn, respectively.
